Real questions families ask us before (and after) signing up. For account, billing, and login help specifically, see our Support page instead.
Yes. An 8-year-old would use a "younger" profile, which gives warm, simple, and firm responses and redirects any sensitive topic gently and clearly to a parent rather than exploring it at length. Every profile is set up by a parent, never by a child, and crisis or abuse-disclosure detection runs before any message reaches the AI model, the same way for every age. See exactly how Kinlight's safety system works.
No, and it isn't built to try. Kinlight explains its faith framework plainly when it matters, but on genuinely hard or pastoral questions, it's designed to point back toward a parent, a pastor, or another trusted adult rather than attempt to fill that role itself. Kinlight is a tool meant to support a parent's judgment, not replace it. More on this in what a Christian AI chat should and shouldn't do.
Parents see conversations that triggered a genuine safety concern, patterns worth knowing about over time, and moments Kinlight judged were handled well but still worth knowing about — all through a private, encrypted dashboard visible only to their own family.
Ordinary, everyday conversation stays private — Kinlight isn't built to let a parent read over a child's shoulder in real time. Conversations on adult-tier profiles are never logged for parental review at all, regardless of content.

Every new family gets a free trial before being charged anything, though a payment method is required to start it. The exact current price for each plan is always shown before you ever enter payment details, during sign-up — we'd rather you see the real, current number there than a figure that could go stale here.
Sensitive conversation content is encrypted, and access is restricted to your own family's authenticated account — no other family can see your data. Kinlight does not sell personal information and does not use children's conversation content for advertising. See our Privacy Policy for the full detail.
All three. Younger kids, teens, and adults each get a calibrated experience on their own profile — teens get fuller, more honest engagement with real room for hard questions, and adults get the same faith-grounded companion at adult-level depth, never monitored by anyone else in the household.
Kinlight responds immediately with a consistent, reviewed response: it validates what they're feeling, points directly to real help (988 for the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, or 911 in immediate danger, in the US), and asks them to tell a parent, pastor, or trusted adult. The conversation is also made visible to you through the parent dashboard.
No — no ads at any tier, including during the free trial.
No password. Kinlight uses secure "magic link" email sign-in for parents, and each family member's own profile can additionally be protected with a PIN or passkey.
Yes — Kinlight for Schools extends each teacher's own lessons to every student as an AI tutor, with the same safety protections, and school accounts are set up by the school. See that page for details and our current pilot program.
Every profile is created and managed by a parent or guardian, who picks the age band — younger, teen, or adult — that fits their child; children can't sign up on their own, so Kinlight is designed to be used under a parent's direct setup from the start.
You can cancel or change your plan directly from the parent dashboard's Subscription card, and delete your family's account from the dashboard's Family Access tab. Limited technical safety logs are kept for a set period and then deleted automatically, as described in our Privacy Policy. See our Support page for the exact steps.
Kinlight's safety features are real, specific, and checked before and after every response — but, as with any automated system, no system catches every possible situation. Kinlight is meant to be a genuine second layer of protection alongside an engaged parent, not a replacement for one.
